Natalie Tejeda – PR Consultant

Natalie Tejeda is a ball of energy and always bounding into the newsroom with a cheery “Good Morning!” at 4 a.m. As the newest member of the Eyewitness News This Morning team, she is ecstatic to call KENS 5 her home as well as help you get to work and get the kids to school safely.

Originally from Orange County, Calif., she now considers San Antonio her home. In fact, she just bought her first home earlier this year in beautiful Alta Vista. An Alamo City local for the past five years, Natalie has become a big fan of local restaurants like Chris Madrid’s, Blanco Cafe and the new La Gloria Ice House on the grounds of the historic Pearl Brewery.

Natalie also enjoys a lot of the nightlife and live music San Antonio has to offer. An avid salsa dancer and lover of Texas country music, it’s not uncommon to see her spinning around the dance floor at Arjons or rocking out to some Reckless Kelly at Gruene Hall. You can keep up to date on all the latest bands, hot spots and events that are going on in and around our city on her blog.

A self-professed gadget geek and social media nerd, Natalie also keeps tabs on all the latest technology trends and brings them to you. Whether it’s the newest cell phone on the market or the latest Apple invention, she’s giving it a test to see if it’s hot or not.

A bargain hunter to the core, Natalie also covers lots of stories that are focused on saving you money. You can catch those stories every Monday and Wednesday during Eyewitness News First at Four with Deborah Knapp.

Natalie is also a contributor to Great Day SA, and a few times a week you will find her sharing the couch with our own Bridget Smith.

Before coming to KENS 5, Natalie worked in public relations for Dublin and Associates and in the communications department for San Antonio Water System. She was also a reporter for WOAI in San Antonio, KMSB in Tucson, Ariz., a bureau chief for KYMA in Yuma/El Centro, Ariz., and a helicopter reporter at KABC in Los Angeles.

Natalie received her Bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism from California State University Fullerton. She was an award-winning member of the speech and debate team all through high school and college. And something you probably didn’t know is that before switching to communications she was studying to be a professional dancer.

When not working, which seems rare, she always jokes that “She has no life!” Natalie spends much of her free time volunteering with philanthropic organizations in the community. She currently sits on the board of directors for the San Antonio affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and is chair of their public relations committee.

Natalie’s other passion is her family, many of whom still live on the west coast. She has two much younger brothers and numerous grandparents.

One of the things Natalie loves about her job is always getting to meet new people and share in their lives and experiences. “I am so grateful people invite me into their homes every morning and let me be part of their families. If you see me when you’re out and about, come up and say hi. I’d love to meet you in person.”
